ABOUT THE COURSE

On Sunday afternoons from September 15 through December 15, 2019, WBC offers a continuation of our intermediate-level course focused on the detailed presentation of the path of Tibetan Buddhism in the three-volume set, The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma, This trilogy is a wonderfully edited compilation of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche's profound and vast teachings given at thirteen years of annual three-month seminary programs for advanced students, recently made available for a broader audience in these volumes. Each class will include 30 minutes of meditation, followed by a talk and discussion on the topics covered in the readings. Audio recordings of all classes, including both talk and discussion, will be available online.

The Path of Individual Liberation, Volume One

The first five classes this Fall will be on the final chapters of Volume One. The topics covered include further mapping of the path and exploration of the structure of ego as revealed by mindfulness-awareness meditation practice.

The Bodhisattva Path of Wisdom and Compassion, Volume Two

The subsequent eight classes this Fall will be on the Mahayana path as presented in Volume Two. Topics include the cultivation of awakened heart, the bodhisattva vow, emptiness and compassion, bodhisattva activity and the paramitas—as always, with an emphasis on joining study with practice.

*Prerequisite: Completion of a WBC foundation level course (Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha or Way of the Buddha) and a WBC intermediate level course on Volume One of the Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma, or the equivalent. If you have not completed these WBC courses and would like to join this course, please contact Derek Kolleeny at dkolleeny@gmail.com to discuss your equivalent preparation or drop in to any class to discuss this with Derek or Warner.
