The WBC Retreat Fund

Please submit your application using the form below

Applications will be reviewed, and determinations made, by the Fund Committee: Jane Kolleeny, Derek Kolleeny, John Baker and Gene Bobker.

Individuals must have been studying and practicing with WBC for at least three (3) years.

WBC has established a Scholarship Fund to support individuals with a demonstrable financial limitation to attend a program or retreat which is in alignment with the mission of our organization. Individuals must have been studying and practicing with us for at least three (3) years.

The mission of Westchester Buddhist Center (WBC) is to propagate Buddhist practice and teachings by offering regular opportunities for meditation instruction, practice, lectures, educational seminars and other relevant presentations to the general public. In particular, we seek to preserve the practice and teachings of the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism and Shambhala, particularly as they were presented by the late Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

All applications will be vetted by a Scholarship Fund Committee to determine the relevance of the individual’s proposed activity and the level of need. The WBC Scholarship Fund will be established annually in the amount of $2500, and awards will be granted in amounts up to, but not greater than, $500. Applications will be vetted individually, and scholarships will be available until the fund is depleted for that year.

Levels of scholarship:

• 80 percent of registration fees for those who are unemployed;

• 60 percent of registration fees for those earning $40K/year and under;

• 40 percent of registration fees for those earning above $40K to $60/K year.

In addition to the level of earnings, we will award scholarships based on extenuating circumstances, e.g. multiple dependents or other costly commitments.
