ABOUT OUR TUESDAY MEETINGS

Meditation group sitting and walking meditation followed by The Way of the Buddha Course, Semester 1.  All sessions begin with group meditation and instruction. Students may enroll for all three semesters, for one semester, or attend individual classes on a “drop-in” basis.

*All classes begin at 6:30 with 25 minutes of group sitting meditation followed by 10 minutes of walking meditation followed by 25 minutes of group sitting meditation and then a short break - you may join the meditation at any time, quietly.

FOUNDATION LEVEL COURSE:

The Way of the Buddha—Meditation & Insight

SEMESTER ONE

Discovering Reality: Neurosis, Sanity, and the Way of Meditation

ABOUT THE COURSE

“The Way of the Buddha—Meditation and Insight” is a year-long foundation-level course in 3 semesters (Winter 2020, Spring 2020, Fall 2020). Join us for Semester 1, Discovering Reality: Neurosis, Sanity, and the Way of Meditation,” an exploration of the path of mindfulness-awareness meditation and insight as originally described by the Buddha and skillfully transmitted to the West by one of the great Tibetan masters of our time. We will cover such topics as the life of the Buddha, the birth of confusion and suffering, meditation, and the path back to sanity, focusing on the techniques and stages of meditation and bringing meditation into our daily lives. Readings from the works of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and others.

  • All classes begin at 6:30 pm with 25 minutes of group sitting meditation followed by 10 minutes of walking meditation followed by 25 minutes of group sitting meditation and then a short break - you may join the meditation at any time, quietly.

  • Lecture with discussion starts at 7:35 pm and ends by 9:00 pm

  • Meditation instruction is offered in a separate room at the same time as meditation practice for anyone who wishes it.

  • Instructors are available for 30 minutes private discussion before or after class, by appointment.

  • Classes conclude with tea, snacks and conversation.  

  • Participants may attend individual classes on a “drop-in” basis.

  • All classes will be recorded and available on our website for those not able to attend any class in person.

  • Park in the large lot in front of MP Taverna and walk into courtyard to the right of the Eileen Fisher Lab

  • Go straight ahead to the "Foundry" entrance

  • The office is on the second floor right at the top of the stairs
